Description
PROOF FRANCE 2010 - JUDO (Summer Games) 10 €, Silver Proof 2010 With summer olympics taking place in London in 2012, LA MONNAIE DE PARIS celebrates the judo within the framework of its series dedicated to Summer games and to Winter games. The judo became an Olympic sport for men in 1964 Tokyo OLYMPICS and in 1992 for the women Barcelona OLYMPICS. This coin is the opportunity for La Monnaie de Paris to pay tribute to the French judokas who are second to the Olympic prize list, behind Japanese. The face represents the grip of the judo ´ O soto Gari ´, technique very used to destabilize the opponent. A movement of belt, symbol of this sport, appears to the background. To the left, the ideogram of the judo consists of two motives: ´ the flexibility ´ and ´ the road ´. On the lapel(backhand) appears a judo hold ´ Tomoe Nage ´ which is a technique of projection. A map of the world, centered in the middle of the coin in the background, targets the city of London. Proof coinage means special early samples of a coin issue, historically made for checking the dies and for archival purposes, but nowadays often struck in greater numbers specially for coin collectors ( numismatists ).
